Artist's Description
The road less travelled - Old Big Oak Flat Road - is abandoned, and its remains are cut multiple times by rockfalls along the north rim of Yosemite Valley. To reach the spot of this photo, it's necessary to rockhop across three talus cuts along the "road". Fallen trees present additional obstacles, and wildlife encountered to date on the way include beaucoup mosquitoes and - one each - a bear, a bobcat, and a rattlesnake. What one gets for the effort is a quiet view of Bridalveil Fall, El Capitan, and Half Dome minus the throngs at Tunnel View. More about this hike at:

If you possibly might prefer a painted texture, a watercolor-style conversion of this photograph is available in my "Watercolor Conversions of Yosemite Photographs" and "Watercolor Treatments Of Photographs" galleries here at FAA - thank you for viewing!
About Steven Barrows
Very new on Fine Art America - just joined in early November of 2013. Having grown up on the East Coast, always thought of the Grand Canyon as being the at the top of the US National Parks. Have been there twice, and it's a gem - but in 2002 tacked a weekend onto a California business trip to visit Yosemite National Park for the first time - and went resultantly slack-jawed at the beauty of its topography. Have since learned that it's Yosemite that is considered to be the Crown Jewel of the National Parks - and I hope my photographs do justice to that title. Have since made six more trips to Yosemite - and in 2013 made my first visit during which Yosemite's High country was accessible via Tioga Road being open for the summer...
